All About Grounding Roots Farm

History

The home and land where Grounding Roots Farm now operates is historic to this area of Clark County, WA. The house that stands there was  built in 1896 and was one of the original homes in the area.

It's been through a handful of owners, most of whom farmed it in various ways. It operated for decades as a dairy farm, but also produced grains and hay. You can still see two of the silos which served the farms grain storage needs.

The Birth of Grounding Roots Farm

In 2021 Jay and April Ehl, purchased the home and land which now operates as Grounding Roots Farm. It was their dream and goal to establish a small homestead and restore the old home and land to a working farm, true to its roots.

Their early successes inspired them to go bigger so that they could share the bounty with their neighbors, friends, family, and community- and so they incoporated and Grounding Roots Farm was officially born.

A small farmstand was set up on the property and now operates seasonally to provide their harvest excess to each of you. While not certified organic, the farm attempts to utilize natural methods for pest control, soil conditioning, and animal feed.

What Grounding Roots Farm Produces

Our small farm seems to be growing every year and hosts a number of farm animals, garden variety plants, as well as several honey bee hives.

Our many hens provide us farm fresh eggs. We have a dary cow (Ms. Mabel) who will be a future source of milk. We raise pigs for pork and have several sheep and goats for farm maintenance (our mini lawnmowers).

Each year we attempt to grow a variety of herbs, and seasonal vegetables. Extra seedling plants are offered for sale each spring. In the fall we typically have a substaintial pumpkin crop with a large variety of edible, carving, and ornamental pumpkins. As all our offerings become available you can find them via our Shop link in our website menu.

When our bees are busily making honey we harvest the excess and market some as well. With the many blackberry plants in our area you can often taste a hint of the blackberry with each spoonful.

Mircogreens are a new product we're experimenting with and should be available in the near future.
